Marqueal Jordan gives advice & talks about his career in interview with Edward Sylvan

“There is an old videotape of a family Christmas in Compton, CA from 1983 where my uncle asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said, “I wanna be either a musician or a basketball player.” Magic Johnson was my idol, but before long I realized I wasn’t going to get any taller or better at basketball, so music became the thing (laughs).

MJ sat down earlier this month with Edward Sylvan, CEO of Sycamore Entertainment Group, to discuss his musical and geographical journey, as well as give some advice to those aspiring to be in the entertainment industry. The full interview is online at the link below:

Marqueal Jordan is featured on PBS’s “Now Hear This”

On April 15, 2022, PBS premiered a fascinating episode of “Now Hear This” that features the music, migration and life of African American Composer Florence Price. It follows her life from Little Rock, Arkansas to Chicago and parallels that to the Great Migration of African Americans from the South to North for a better way of life. It also discusses how Gospel, Blues and Jazz Music played an integral part in that Migration, in Chicago and in the life of Ms. Price. Marqueal Jordan and his straight ahead Jazz Quintet are featured in a segment along with Blues legend John Primer. After viewing the episode, Marqueal was in tears and said, “this is the most important and impactful thing I’ve ever been a part of, and everyone should see this.”

The full episode is available and can be streamed on PBS’s website:
